If you’ve never checked EBay to see what’s available, you just might after this project.  Our customer found this beautiful oak desk complete with the Marshall Fields brass plate for $50.  Quite a buy.  Now, it wasn’t quite this beautiful when we picked it up.  We had to replace the canvas on the tambour, the pigeonhole area required some reglueing, the drawers a little refitting and there was some veneer repair necessary.  The natural color was allowed to shine after stripping .....more!

This month we focused on an oak side-by-side brought in for restoration.  Although meant to be utilitarian, side-by-sides are charming, decorative pieces.  One half is a bookcase and one half serves as a desk.  The drop down lid hides the pigeon hole storage area.  Most have a framed mirror above the desk area.  The one brought in for restoration was missing this feature.  Our customer had never seen the side-by-side with the mirror and decided against trying to replace it.....more!

What to do with an old TV console? This was the question our customer asked. They’ve had the console since the late 60’s. It had served well as an entertainment center with its radio, turntable and TV. And all that entertainment was housed in a beautiful solid wood cabinet they were proud to display in their home. Updating their technology left them with the cabinet they were reluctant to add to a land fill. They asked if it was possible to convert the console into a buffet type storage piece for their dining room?...more!
