You’d be surprised how many times we regretfully hear: “I didn’t know it could have been repaired!” We thought we’d highlight a few repairs as a reminder of just what can be done.

A split seat threatened to reduce a set of eight chairs to a set of seven.  When the seat was turned over, a previous “repair” was visible.  To properly repair the seat splits, dowels need to be inserted into both pieces.  A jig assures proper alignment.  The pieces are then glued with epoxy and clamped tightly until dry.  We removed the previous band-aid “repair”, opened that split and repaired it the same way before reinstalling the seat.

Part of this claw foot was missing.  We doweled and glued a rough-shaped piece of wood to the remaining foot.  Hand carving finished the foot to match the other claw foot.  When colored, it will be very difficult to distinguish between the repaired foot and the original.
